How Do I Get Involved?Raise fundsOceans of Mercy is changing lives one child at a time. Every extra dollar you raise will feed 16 children for a day. Run (or walk!) for MercyGet out there and show your support for this important cause! The Run for Mercy is one of the most highly attended races in Kansas City. Over 4,ooo runners and walkers have participated in the race since 2009; over 7,000 since the race's inception in 2004. Make an impact by helping to improve the lives of South African children infected or affected by HIV/AIDS. T-shirts will be provided while supplies last. Hand-made race medallions, directly from Port St. John's South Africa, will be awarded to the top three male and female finishers of the 5k and 10k races. The course starts at Mill Valley High School in western Shawnee, KS. It runs through a beautiful subdivision, leading onto Johnson Drive. The last half-mile of the race features a downhill slope toward the finish, back at the high school. Overall, the course has gently rolling hills, but no steep climbs. Pets, bikes, rollerblades, motorized vehicles and head sets are not permitted. Baby strollers are allowed for walkers only. All animals prohibited, except for those assisting the blind. Little ones will cut loose in the Kids’ Zone. Check out the authentic South African merchandise available for purchase at the Silent auction! Credit cards, checks, cash accepted. Along with Chris Cakes pancakes, we will have a variety of refreshing drinks and snacks after the race for participants. |
